Mansueto and Anschutz haven’t had much recent success, and it could be argued that they should be less patient with their executives than they have been, but issues at the Fire and the Galaxy aren’t down to a lack of funding from their owners. He’s won three MLS Cups, hit on a high percentage of big signings and, until last year, had made the playoffs in every single one of his full seasons as a GM. Lagerwey, the runaway winner of best GM in the league in the 2022 survey, has impeccable credentials.
